Taking a ride in a hot air balloon appears on many "bucket lists." And it's always exciting to spot one floating in the air. This weekend hundreds will take off daily from Dansville for the New York State Festival of Balloons. Although the filling of the balloons is not so quiet, once launched, they become a peaceful sight.
Taking place at the Brae Burn Recreation Center and the airport in Dansville, the festival also offers tethered balloon rides, arts and crafts, vendors, live entertainment, and a car show. The festival runs Thursday, August 28, through Monday, September 1. Gates open at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 4 p.m. on Friday, and 5:30 a.m. Saturday through Monday. Admission is $5, children under 12 free.
